
Take the time to consider WINNING with Summer Enrichment at C. J. Donald Middle School! Our free enrichment program is for all students whether your child is an honor roll student or in need of more intensive support (If your child is in summer school for grade recovery they should not complete this form. They have a separate letter that was given out). In June there will be a focus on improving reading and math proficiency levels to aid all students in attaining grade-level readiness. Students will work towards attaining grade level mastery or above. In addition, enrichment will focus on increasing student exposure to a variety of fun and engaging experiences. A LETTER WENT HOME TODAY TO SIGN UP YOUR CHILDREN with additional details. We only have around 70 slots available so please sign up immediately by scanning the QR code at the bottom and filling out the brief Google form. 6th Grade Summer School letters are going out today, Wednesday, April 30th. Please ask your child if they received a letter. If they received one, they are in danger of failing and must be registered for summer school by scanning the QR code with your phone's camera and filling out the brief form. If you need assistance please contact the main office.

CJD 8th grade parents. Mr. King will do the final make up for pictures on Thursday, May 2, 2024. This will also be the last opportunity to purchase 8th grade pictures.

Good morning CJD! Friendly reminder that iReady testing is today and tomorrow and all students should be present at school and on time. Thank you for ensuring we meet our testing requirements. Encourage your children to try their best! Their test results will give us data on where they are in reference to their grade levels in reading and math (below, at, or above grade level) as we near the end of the school year.

It's an exciting day at CJD! Our 8th grade prom, "An Evening Under the Stars" starts at 7:00 pm and ends at 10:00 pm in the atrium at FHPS.
Parents should begin arriving for pickup at 9:45 pm so that all staff can clear the campus in a timely fashion. Students cannot linger on campus after prom. Please make appropriate arrangements to ensure your child is picked up on time.

CJD parents progress reports went out yesterday for all students.
Additionally, 7th grade students in danger of failing the academic school year received a summer school registration letter for grade recovery. Please ensure you ask your if child they received a letter if they are in the 7th grade.
6th and 8th grade summer school letters for grade recovery will go out no later than next Friday. You will receive an announcement when they do.
If your child receives a letter, please ensure you scan the QR code and register them immediately.
If your child recovers their grade before the school year ends you will be notified. If you are not notified, assume they must still
attend summer school for grade recovery. The letter has more details.

ACAP WEEK: BLOW THE TEST OUT THE WATER
Friday 4/4 and Monday 4/8 students will write their names on bubbles and their goal ACAP score to go with our theme above.
Monday, 4/8 - Pep Rally
Tuesday, 4/9- “True to Blue” Staff and students will wear blue.
Staff will meet outside at 7:35 am to greet the students as we clap for ACAP and blow bubbles (“blowing the test out the water).
Wednesday, 4/10- “White Out” for students and staff. We will wipe out the test!
Thursday, 4/11- “Wear Grey” because we didn't come to play.
Friday, 4/12 - “Fly Day”. Where your cleanest and flyest attire and dance away. Students who have exceeded our expectations (perfect attendance, no testing violations, and showed complete focus)will be allowed to attend!
We’re so excited to blow the ACAP test out the water!!

Eighth grade pictures will be taken by Mr. King on Thursday April 4, 2024 for girls and April 5, 2024 for boys.
Reminder that girls must bring a black tank top and boys bring a white dress shirt with black tie.

CJD parents, report cards go out tomorrow, Tuesday, 4/2. Secondly, cheer tryouts start today and extend through Friday with Ms. Sellers for our 6th -8th grade students. Cheerleaders will walk to the high school (with an escort) after school and report to the main gym. Tryouts start promptly at 3:45 pm and end at 6:00 pm. Please make arrangements for your child to be picked up from the high school on time.

Important CJD Updates:
Tomorrow, Thursday, March 7th will be an early dismissal day to celebrate our High School Boy’s basketball team’s 5A championship win!! The parade is at 1:30 pm. Wear CJD, Fairfield, or purple and gold gear!!
Secondly, cheer (Junior Varsity and Varsity) tryouts will be held April 1st-April 5th from 3:45 to 6:00 pm. The tryout fee is $40.00. See Ms. Sellers at the high school for more information.

Summer Program- First Come...First Serve.
CJD parents Urban Hope’s Summer program came to speak to our students to see who has an interest. If your child brings home a packet, please ensure it is filled out completely on both sides, signed, and returned to Ms. Adam’s in the front office no later than Friday, March 1st. It is a first come first serve basis so the sooner the better. Once all slots are filled acceptance will end.

GO RED CJD wear red tomorrow, January 24th, to kickoff support for the American Heart Association. Additionally, we are asking that students and teachers bring in donations to raise money for the cause. CJD is competing to raise the most money in the district. No amount is too small. See you in your red and thanks in advance for the donations.

Important CJD Updates and Reminders:
1. The ACAP practice test begins tomorrow through Friday. Every student must take the test. Please have students arrive by 7:45 am all week.
2. Bookbags are not allowed during testing . If bought, they will be outside the classroom while testing.
3. Report cards are being reprinted and sent home tomorrow.
4. Ensure our CJD scholars get plenty of rest and eat breakfast.
5. Tutoring has resumed today. Please ensure tutoring students are picked up by 4:25 pm
6. Non tutoring students should be picked up at 3:15 pm and off campus no later than 3:30 pm.

Please, be advised that last Thursday's regular board meeting that was canceled due to weather, will be held Tuesday, January 23 at 5:30PM at the Fairfield City School District Board of Education. We hope to see you there.

Dear Fairfield City Schools Family,
Due to the threat of winter weather, the Fairfield City School District will be CLOSED Tuesday, January 16th. All campuses and buildings will be closed. Employees will not report to work. Students will not report to school. There will also be no athletic or extra-curricular activities.
Please, be advised that Governor Kay Ivey has issued a state of emergency due to the forecasted winter weather. Fairfield City School District will continue to monitor the weather advisories. At this time, no decision has been made regarding a Wednesday closure or delay. We will inform you when that happens.
Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students and employees. We strongly encourage everyone to stay informed through reputable weather authorities.

CJD parents, ACAP practice testing will begin on Tuesday, January 16th up to Monday, January 22nd. ALL STUDENTS MUST BE PRESENT. Testing will start promptly. Please have your children at school by 7:45 am to ensure they do not miss their testing session. Additionally, please ensure they eat breakfast and get plenty of rest the night before each test. Lastly, please stress the importance of taking the test seriously and trying their best.
